What's not insured?

  • Wear and tear damage is not covered.
  • Certain imported items where appropriate UK customs duty has not been paid or evidence cannot be provided.

Top tips to protect jewellery

  • Get the clasps and settings inspected regularly, we usually recommend annually for high value and sentimental items.
  • It’s beneficial to ensure diamond and gems stones are inspected for clarity to ensure you insure for the true replacement value of the jewellery.
  • Valuations are usually sought every 2-3 years as the price of precious metals can fluctuate.
  • Keep an up-to-date inventory of your jewellery.
  • Keep unworn items securely in a safe/secure place, out of sight.
  • Understand any contract clauses that apply to your insurance policy and ask if you’re unsure.
  • Ensure the cash/valuables rating of your safe is adequate for your jewellery collection, it’s certainly worth considering future purchases to protect against having to purchase further safes.
  • Make sure your home’s physical security is regularly maintained.
